The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi is an independent not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 that serves eleven Mississippi counties: Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Leflore, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate and Tunica. The Community Foundation assists donors by providing a create, cost-effective and tax-efficient way for people to invest in charitable causes they care about the most. They help create permanent charitable funds of everlasting impact, whether they focus on the local community or organizations across the Unites States. Community Foundation of Middlesex County's mission is to improve the quality of life for the people of the County now and in the future by developing endowments, making grants that have impact, and assisting donors in meeting their philanthropic objectives. In 1997, community leaders from across Middlesex County established their Community Foundation dedicated to enhancing and improving the quality of life in the area. They assist donors in meeting their charitable objectives through the creation of restricted and unrestricted endowments during their lifetime or through planned gifts. The Community Foundation of Johnson's mission is to serve the people of Johnson County by growing endowments and distributing funds to build a greater community. From an initial gift of $400,000 made by Dick Schwab and Katherine Burford on December 1, 2000, the Community Foundation has grown to oversee nearly $36 million in charitable assets and has distributed more than $16 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. They also support more than 200 nonprofit organizations, family and business charitable giving funds, community endowment funds, and charitable giving circles benefitting all of Johnson County. The mission of the Community Foundation of Howard County is to connect people, resources and causes to produce a positive and sustainable change in the communities we serve. Today, the Community Foundation of Howard County is home to more than 200 funds representing a broad range of donor and community interests. From its incorporation on March 6, 1991, the foundation has grown into the largest single grant-maker in the county. The number and dollar amounts of grants being given in the community continue to grow. Those grants, however, are all the direct or indirect result of a donor's interest in the community.
