Several men lie in their profile and say they want a relationship when they just want a one night stand. Most people don't bother replying to messages because they apparently think they are too good for anyone yet wonder why they are still single. The forums are full of trolls and appear to be unmoderated or poorly moderated. Don't waste your time on the forums. The ads can be quite annoying, forcing one to watch commercials. It's especially annoying if you're listening to music while on okcupid. Several people will IM without bothering to read your profile. I suggest turning IM off.
