catholic.org : Malicious Toolkit Website

My computer was immediately attacked upon opening a page on this site. "An intrusion attempt was blocked." Quite sad that even catholic.org isn't safe from viruses... not sure why Norton has listed it as safe.

livemixtapes.com : don't enter cell number

if you sign up for a membership DO NOT enter your cell phone number unless you want to receive a monthly charge!!! otherwise site seems safe enough, a little sketchy and misleading when trying to phish for cell phone numbers. if you don't enter it you should be okay. major artists and dj's use this site to promote their music.

twitter.com : Spammed by twitter

I get about 100+ spam emails per week because of this site. I used a previously unused email account and signed up for twitter. It was immediately flooded with spam after one "hello" post and one (weird unknown) person followed me on it. This was the ONLY time I ever used this email account, which had been spam free for over a year. I also noticed suspicious links and bogus accounts. I deleted my account and never, ever use their site.

facebook.com : BEWARE!!!

Avoid this site: Facebook apps can damage your computer. DO NOT USE THEM. There's just too much unchecked content that can contain adware, spyware, or viruses. I don't know why many people give a four or five star rating and say that Facebook is safe, but follow it with "Don't use apps, click on ads, etc." If that is the case then the site is NOT SAFE or at least potentially dangerous. I noticed many suspicious apps, and noticed weird activity on friends computers who had many apps installed on their pages. There's also way too many ads on the page the site itself. It's filled with links to cheap services and questionable downloads. Beware!

xtube.com : USE CAUTION

A few days ago, I went to this website - the very first day I bought a brand new, custom built laptop direct from HP, complete with full Norton protection. Shortly after entering the site, I started getting weird pop ups, even with pop up blocker on. When I tried to close my browser, even weirder fake windows boxes came up saying something about scanning my computer. I did not click either okay or cancel, but tried to X the window out to no avail. I had to use CTRL+ALT+DELETE get task manager to force Firefox to close. Norton came up telling me my computer was under attack, threat level Medium. Security was able to protect and isolate the problem, nothing was infected, but I was very concerned as this is a popular site.

Other visits to the site since then have not yielded the same results, and I have tried going there without visiting any other sites, closing the browser, and immediately doing full virus scans. Nothing has been detected and nothing strange has occurred. The only low level thing that's been detected is a tracking cookie, but I don't know if it's from that site. Maybe the threat is coming from xtube ads or flash which links to other pages (which may or may not be safe)?
