mac-mall.com : looks legit but

I am always cautious when a site:

1. takes advantage of an established name like mac and

2. it sends out unsolicited email promotions.

I don't know anyone who actually bought from them nor have I tried and I probably won't.

Chances are you have one of his spam in your junk folder right now. there are different variants of this site, runnck03, runnck01...

it mostly concentrates on luring people with money making schemes. once you click you are redirected to another site that sells you something for you to make money ... we all know how that works. It could be work with google and make $5000, or turn your jewelry into cash, get a free car. it goes on and on and on.

zappos.com : I'll vouch for them too

zappos.com is great!! two things I love about them that separates them from everyone else.

1. Free shipping both ways!!! we all know how difficult it is to buy shoes online, you have to try them on to know if they fit etc. Well Zappos solved that porblem by offering free shipping both ways. If the shoe doesn't fit, send it back free and request a new size.

2. Real Time inventory. If it's not in their warehouse, theyre not gonna sell it to you. Simple but effective. I hate it when I order something and in a few days or sometimes even weeks I get an email telling me they don't have it in stock. Zappos won't do this to you.

snapfish.com : nothing phishy about snapfish

I've personally used them once, I took advantage of the free prints. The site is pretty easy to navigate, uploading is fast and painless.

They offer more than just printing service, they can put your mug in a mug, t-shirt or mouse pad. I believe they have online photo album sharing as well.

TIP: a lot of online coupons floating around for FREE PRINTS from snapfish if you care to look, start at fatwallet.com or xpbargains.com

Site has no malware or viruses that I know of. Norton Safe Web gives them the greenlight.

jomashop.com : i can't believe it too

if you're reading this review I know the number one question you're asking yourself is not whether or not the site is safe / free of viruses, which accdg to norton safe web it is. With that out of the way, let's go to your more important question...

are the items for sale here authentic?

I know, I know . I've asked myself the same thing before. the prices are out of this world cheap. like counterfeit cheap right? I am not gonna claim that everything here is authentic, cause I'm not in a position to do so. For me to say that means I saw and verified each item.

What I can say though is based on my experience. I bought the wife a Fendi spy which was about $900 off the retail price, no tax. This was after my friend who bought a Cartier watch worth about $5K verified that the watch he bought was authentic (he went to Cartier). I had butterflies in my stomach when I gave it to my wife who was an authority on handbags, she saw nothing wrong with it but I had to tell her that I got it online and she said the members of her purse forum recommend this site as a seller of authentic bags. A few weeks later when we passed by Fendi we asked a manager to take a look and she (manager) indeed verified the authenticity.

Based on my experience two thumbs up Jomashop!

edmunds.com : first stop when buying a car

a lot of people go into dealerships blindly. the smart ones stop by edmunds.com first.

Edmunds.com not only offer you the facts and statistical data on your choice of vehicle but it also provides you with tips like "10 steps to buying a new car" or "confessions of a salesman".

A common practice among savy car buyers is to go to Edmunds.com and print out the vehicle's invoice price and other price points so you know how much the dealer paid for the vehicle and how much money they're trying to make out of you.

ebay.com : don't be fooled by the rocks that I got...

I love ebay. Yes I said it. I love ebay. I can't even quantify the amount of money that I saved and made by buying and selling on ebay.

Online shopping is a different animal. It's like being a tourist and trying to shop in a country where you don't speak their language. It takes due diligence, research and sometimes patience.

ebay buying and selling might have the most pitfalls of any site. a whole new breed of criminal minds were born out of this website.

I feel like somewhat of an online shopping expert. I say a huge majority of my purchases are done online. Probably a good 65% to 70%. Why do I do this?
1. The prices are ridculously lower online - online stores have lower overhead and therefore can sell for less.
2. TAX FREE. until uncle sam figures out how to tax our online transactions, I'm gonna take advantage of keeping 8% of my hard earned cash, thank you.
3. I never pay full price. yep that's gonna be what my tombstone will say "this man never paid full price".

I was not always a savy online shopper, my first ebay experience was terrible but it made me who I am today.

The first thing I learned if I wanna swim with the sharks in ebay was to be armed. YES, my weapon of choice? American Express Gold Card. I never NEVER ever pay for anything via wire transfer, check or cash. only amateurs do that. I pay via credit card through paypal. You need a reliable credit card that offers you online fraud protection, so if somebody screws you over you call your credit card company and reverse that charge!!! If the seller does not accept paypal credit card transaction, walk away. You will find the same item somewhere else.

due diligence pays off. see my review of fatwallet.com. online research takes a few clicks to save a lot of $$$. a lot of sites compare prices. they don't often include prices on ebay because a lot of ebay items are up for auction, there's no final price. so check both price comparison sites and ebay.

patience. don't be the guy who has the first iphone or the first ps3. cause you will be the guy who paid too much. i majored in economics and all it really boils down to is supply and demand. before a new product comes out, they advertise the heck out of it and drive up the demand hence limiting the supply therefore PRICES goes up. if you're a seller, this is like a wet dream but not for buyers. PATIENCE. wait it out. the next generation of PS3 or iPhone will be 1. CHEAPER and 2. far more SUPERIOR. manufacturer had already worked out the kinks, resolved the bugs.

be smart. the oldest rule in the book still holds true today. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If your selling something on ebay. don't ship until that money is sitting in your bank account. not good enough that its in your paypal account because that can be reversed. remember paypal accounts can be stolen, so if you're being pressured into mailing the item ASAP for $100 more. REDFLAG. he wants the item shipped before paypal figures out he stole the account.

babycenter.com : because babies aren't born w/ owner manuals

From day 1 of your pregnancy, this site will start to be useful for you. No. let me correct myself, even if you're not pregnant but contemplating on being pregnant, this site will be very helpful.

What to expect that first week of your pregnancy? Help with coming up with baby names. I love the part where it tells you what milestones your baby should have reached at a certain point. This site has answers to all your questions and NO it will not replace the expertise of your physician but its good for those late at night I WANT TO KNOW THE ANSWER right away feeling about your baby.

I have helped diagnose my baby's eczema through this site, I took her to the doctor the next day and doc confirmed my findings, I mentioned to the doc what the site recommends best for her age and doc agreed 100%.

It does not stop there. There tons of parenting tips that for my wife and I we feel are priceless. Like how to bond with your newborn. Father Daughter stuff. Mother and Daughter. Party Ideas! do you know how long planning for your baby's 1st party can take? How about discipline for every age? Recommended toys. It just goes on and on and on.

This site is priceless and I'm glad Gary Chevsky cleared up why this site was given a red mark.

seekingalpha.com : Great financial news and opinion site

I read it regularly to keep abreast with the latest news in finance particularly the stock market. It has a very good group of columnists and regular contributors. I find the opinions to be non-biased.

astalavista.com : loaded with malware and viruses

this is a hacker site. i would proceed with extreme caution, I got a malware once just by merely opening the site. When I clicked on links my norton internet security suite went to town blocking all the malicious stuff in there. It's probably not worth your time get cracked software in exchange for inoperable computer afterwards.

paneristi.com : great community for panerai enthusiasts.

yes the site is safe but purchasing from relatively unknown strangers is still done at your own risk. I personally have bought straps from people in the community and have had no problems. It's a great place to know about the brand Panerai and why Paneristis are a new breed of watch collectors. The forums is an ocean of information, posting a question will usually get an answer immediately. It's a great community one that I've been a part of for years.

mint.com : money management just got easier

I love mint.com because i love seeing where my money goes. I get a weekly email report on my spendings, I also get alerts on due dates. This site has changed my spending habit. It not only tracks what you spend but it also offers you tips on how to save. An example, it pointed out to me that my credit card interest rate was X amount and it listed other banks that offered way lower rates which I took advantage of. Its like having a personal financial advisor without the costs.

multiply.com : Great Place to share photos/music/videos!

I use this site because it allows me to upload unlimited amount of content and the layout is relatively easy to use. I have uploaded tons of photos that are arranged into albums. so it serves as both as a backup for my photos and also a place where I can share them with friends and family. The layout is easy to navigate and it offers other features such as blogging and music upload (filesharing has been canceled recently though). I also upload videos of concerts that I've been to. I personally like uploading my favorite music and creating playlists, it gives me an option to listen to my music at work without bringing my ipod.

I guess I like it more because its not like the other sites which promotes adding friends. it's really not just a social networking website, it offers a lot more than that.
