      <title>intuit.com : Love Quicken</title>
<description>Wish they would get support from big financial sites like Etrade who do not provide with transactional data for ESOP and ESPP which forces you to enter it yourself.

However, Quicken works! And it shows you your worth and your expenses. Just looking at the cash flow report week after week will make you discipline yourself.

They also make TurboTax. However, I have never managed to use it properly to get maximum deduction as I always had some weird use cases (multiple W2 or spouse without SSN) which it did not handle properly.

In terms of usability though, I rank TurboTax very highly.

      <title>blogspot.com : Annoying spam on blogs</title>
<description>I have been using blogspot for quite some time. I think the site has some issues. Firstly, if you enable comments on your blog, you will be spammed. I think someone out there knows how to break their captcha.
Secondly, the post via email feature hardly works. This is a handy feature that I wish all sites that hosts blogs have. (I think Live Spaces has it now).
Lastly, photo embedding is still a pain (and yes I have used Picasa and Helo).
I think if I host my personal blog it will be on Live Spaces as I can edit my blog using my Office 2007 (Word or OneNote).

<title>ingdirect.com : An example of how good security should be designed</title>
<description>ING has no branches or locations. It is an online only bank. It was extremely important for them to make sure their customers felt secure when transacting with that site. They made sure they did it.
The site design is clean and with the multi-factor authentication (from PassMark?) it is difficult for keyloggers and form grabbers to hack into your account.
It also integrates with Quicken very well - something I wish Etrade did.

      <title>sourceforge.net : I doubt is all code on sourceforge.net is good</title>
<description>- Some of it may be intentionally malicious
- Some of it may have vulnerabilities
- Some of it may have backdoors for debugging/troubleshooting that may be exploited.
- Some of it is GPL - which means you cannot use it for commercial purposes unless if you want to open up your code.

You have to review the licenses and the code carefully before using it in source form. If using in binary form you have to verify that the code is good and I dont know of an easy way to do it.

<title>pidgin.im : Very good IM client but installer is not signed</title>
<description>This IM client works for the most IM services. It has tabbed browsing. However, it is open source and its installer is not signed. The installer is downloaded from sourceforge.net and I did not find a PGP or SHA-1 hash of the installer (in spite of their claim that all packages are signed).
Finally, you have to enter your password to Yahoo and any other service that you use. I have not looked at their code to see if the password is stored securely or not and whether it is sent to the IM servers over a secure transport.

Perhaps, Safe Web can analyze these applications to reveal their risks in the future? </description>

<title>cricinfo.tv : Nice site to catch up on cricket related news</title>
<description>This is a sister site of Cricinfo.com. They serve 10 minute highlights of cricket matches everyday. Video is served using Flash player. However, it is served on a HTTPS page which has an EV cert. This tells me that these guys are thinking about security and trustworthiness.

To me this is the best cricket video site out there.

<title>dcu.org : One of the best credit unions</title>
<description>I have an account at DCU and they are one of the best credit unions out there. You can achieve pretty much everything from their web site which is fast and secure. In my 7+ years with them I have not seen a single glitch on their site. Unlike many other top banks, their home page is served over HTTPS which makes them that much more secure.

They do not have an EV cert yet but knowing them I am sure they will get one soon.
